On January 29, 2026, Pieces Canada and the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) co-hosted a webinar focused on the RNAO Clinical Pathways for Long Term Care initiative and the integration of the PIECES™ 3-Question Template (in its entirety), in association with the new RNAO Dementia and Depression Clinical Pathways.
The RNAO Clinical Pathways initiative builds on the implementation of the RNAO Best Practice Guidelines by digitizing the clinical pathways for the long-term care sector. Several digitized clinical pathways are already in use in Long-Term Care Homes (LTCHs) across Ontario. The Dementia and Depression Clinical Pathways are scheduled to launch in Spring 2026. These pathways will guide assessment, help teams identify when further assessment is needed using the PIECES™ 3-Question Assessment Template, and facilitate connections with a PIECES™ Practitioner. These pathways, inclusive of the PIECES™ Approach, will be invaluable in providing the best possible care for older adults living in LTCH with complex health needs.
Co-presented by Brittany Young RN, BScN, Program Manager, RNAO; Joanne Collins RSW, Director, Pieces Canada; and Pam Hamilton BA.H, Director, Pieces Canada.
